I'm done! Rather satisfying! As good as any non-Halal tai chow.... Fish was just ok, egg was good and so where the rest. Lin used her hands to and I think I'm the only one in the restaurant using a bowl and chopsticks. Passed OK - speedy cooking and right taste.

WIR? yes, and this time prob. bring my parents...

HALAL CHINESE Review #1: HOMST KOTA DAMANSARA

I thought I'd start a series of Halal Chinese food review/overview. I'm in Homst Kota Damansara, we've just order sweet n sour fish, kung po chicken, Thai taufu, foo yong tan. Verdict to follow this blog posting. Here's a pic. One cool thing I notice is the Muslim ayat hung above the counter done in a very nice Chinese calligraphy style :).

Lin Kopitiam

At the corner of Block B of Armanee Condo Damansara Damai, lies this cozy lil' food place owned by me and wife Lin. It's been 8 months since opening day...
I love this place... why? - It's a nice place to chill, do your web surfing and watch some Astro... - In Armanee Condo, there's no where else to go to chill... - A non-hyped place for family and friends to meet - more importantly everyone can just relax and enjoy great food... Speaking of food, we are going great lengths to cater for all races .... All the money spent is worth it when you see the happy faces of your clients who become friends and almost family as time goes on. To anyone reading this, we hope Lin Kopitiam becomes a happy part of your life at Armanee. :)

A New job equates new place to rent. Prima Pelangi, the place I am living now which I have with "affectionly" called the BMK (Behind Mont Kiara), a lower rental, 3 room apartment nestled between the kampung area between the filthystinkingrich Mont Kiara and Segambut. That was about 5 months ago. The idea to find flat mates has been finally been KOed since I've discovered what I really want is to live alone. Come 2007 1st April I'll be shifting to Damansara Perdana and renting a studio instead.

So what did we do at the BMK? We had 3 kick-ass parties at the BMK. The first one was the lowest key affair (housewarming), the 2nd was a downright blast and the 3rd - some didnt even go home.

It's already stale but since I have not blogged anything, I need to fill up the gaps left for the final quarter of 2006. So here are some photo "highlights" of parties at the BMK. I would like to thank all my great friends for having the guts, balls and making it fun for all by doing some or all of the following:

  • drinking themselves to a stupor
  • snogging each other
  • their simply awesome Halloween (or more like manga) costumes
  • (THANKS - NOT!!) creating such an awesome mess for me to clean up and feel good about myself the next day
  • letting their hair, skirts, shirts all down for a good time between friends

INXS Rocks Again

Last Friday, got to catch JD Fortune live with INXS at Stadium Negara. Definitely the most "comfortable" concert I've been to. Just about 5000 people so you had room to breathe and enjoy the music.

All I wanted most to was to hear and see how JD would do the the old INXS numbers. To hear INXS live again with their new RockSt*r belting out "Need You Tonight" and "New Sensation"... phoarrrrrr, best. Mouth-watering.

(pictures "curi"ed from arong the net. Sorry my handphone has no camera, cheap phone)

JD did well, establishing his own style. He is no Michael Hutchence but he's got his own presence and definitely has the strength to carry the band. Afterglow was a huge hit with the crowd.

We (Mel, Willy and yours truly) bought the tickets at the final hour and did some shopping at Top Shop - all so cool and never in a rush. Juz was supposed to get the tickets but we ended up having to do it, and we even went to Ticket Charge instead of Ticket-whatever to buy the tickets... thankfully the girl employee at Ticket Charge was nice enuff to direct us to the right place in Mid-Valley.

But I tell you what-I have to say the opening act was well... to be polite ... just plain BAD. Gawd. I mean obviously we the audience would be in trouble when the very "handsome" lead singer says things like ..."I wrote this song so you can jump" ... and when he "ordered" the uninterested audience to get up their lighters and phones for one of his songs, the power went off. Thank GOD. It took divine intervention to stop the hurt from getting to us muahahhaha. The irony is I bumped into the lead singer in a lift when i was going for dinner at luna bar last nite. What a coincedence. I didnt even know the name of his band or who he is.

Was it deliberate on the part of the organizers to get a band who was so band so that INXS would look like rock gods? I wonder.

JD being the true ROCKSTAR - came on, strong and powerful... and it was fun.

3 days of chill... the josh-kumar tour of penang
3 pals with a bit too much of work pressure decided to take a break in penang. art on a 2 month-job break, kumar had the 3 days of leave and i had to clear mine.

since it was art's first trip to penang (can you believe it), being the usual man with a mission kumar and i made sure that he would manage to sample all of penang's finest.

We started early, leaving at 6:15am. Look at what we did for day 1:

... herbal duck mee in bidor

(good stuff)

(what a beautiful town, with much of its old world charm intact)

... lunch at line clear nasi kandar and penang road chendol

(arthur and kumar with glorious penang nasi kandar)

(awesome. our culture still is well and truly alive with the old blending in with the new)

... checked in at continental (so we could easily walk back from soho after getting wasted)

... dinner at gurney drive (whacking rm6 worth of chicken skin)

(see the happy faces whacking hawker food with its unhealthy goodness)

... dvd shopping at bt. feringghi

... drinking away at soho and catching pole dancing at nearby club

Day 2, it was the more "touristic" day out:

... morning walk along golden sands beach

... teluk bahang jetty

... teluk kumbar seafood

(a view like this convinces you that there is a god)

... nite market at feringghi and dvd shopping day 2

and to cap it off, stopping by taiping on the way back on the third day.

Arthur, dude that was the best we could offer you as far as a tour of penang goes. Lotsa penang food to remind you how stale you singapore food is and a bit of penang nitelife and drinks with friends to remember these 3 days of chill.
